Tamarin Linux
The truly immutable distro – minimal, independent, and built entirely from source.
Project Background
Due to increasing demands for security, transparency, and reproducibility in software distribution, Tamarin Linux aims to be a minimal, reproducible Linux distribution that leverages modern build and package management systems.
The goal is to develop a fully reproducible, minimalist Linux distribution named Tamarin Linux. All core components — from the kernel to the userspace — are built deterministically and fully documented.
Note: This project is a student project and represents the final thesis of the 5AHITS class, IT department at HTL Hollabrunn.
About the Logo
We chose the tamarin monkey as our symbol because it represents what Tamarin Linux stands for — small, lightweight, and agile. Just like the tamarin, our system is minimal yet capable. The word “Tamarin” itself also has a distinctive and memorable sound, making it a fitting name for a clean, modern Linux distribution.Additionaly the biggest resason for choosing the Tamarin monkey is that they have a funny beard :).
